There are two methods for performing cell sorting. Cell sorting is the separation and isolation of various cell populations. Cell sorting by flow cytometry cell sorting is a method to purify cell populations based on the presence or absence of specific physical characteristics. The amount of refraction refers to the size and volume of the cell. For example if lymphocytes were concentrated to 20 million per ml the flow rate at the instrument could be run as high as 20 000 cells per second.
