Repeat this process until the edges are no longer sharp. Additionally the edges are usually precisely cut at a square. To make straight lines place the tile on the tray pulled away from the diamond blade. Then place the file on the edge about an inch from the tip and push downward in a single smooth stroke.

Now you are going to make the notch. A rectified edge means the edges of the tile have been cut to ensure every tile is the same exact size no calibers. Now take a marker and mark the tile on the surface in the shape you want to make a cut. Score the profile with the saw then cut in from the edge of the tile to remove as much waste as possible. Create a pencil line where you want to make the cut then use the grinder to lightly score the line. It is recommended to not install pressed edge tile with less than a 1 8 grout line.

You can also use an abrasive file to begin smoothing the sharp edges of the cut tiles. Do not cut entirely through the tile. If your tile is small 1 inch is enough. As an alternative use a grinder with a diamond tile cutter wheel to cut the tile.

Firmly press the edge of the glass cutter or carbide pencil along the line using a carpenter square as a guide. Whenever i cut a tile it ends up having a very rough and jagged edge. You start by marking the cut and scoring the face of the tile on the line. If your tile is big a square foot or more then cut 2 inches.

If you are new to using these tools practice on some spare tiles before beginning your project. Rectified tile is fired tile ceramic or porcelain tile that has been mechanically cut or ground down to an exact size. Since it applies only to the tile s edges it is called an edge treatment.
